ENTERED SERVICE, from ROTC, Florida State University, 1957. Basic and Advanced Infantry Officer courses, Ranger, Pathfinder and Airborne training at Fort Benning, Georgia, Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, Defense Language Institute, Monterey, California.

 

SERVED, in Germany, Vietnam, Venezuela, and Canal Zone, Panama.
Company Commander, Co. C 1/327th , Fort Campbell and Vietnam.

 

DECORATIONS, Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge, Pathfinder Badge, and the Ranger Tab.

 

RETIRED, in July 1979 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and from Florida State University in August 1991.

 

FAMILY, married to Elin I. Thompson, 1956, three daughters, Sue, Jan and Beth, and five grand children, Lora Lee, Kristi, Melissa, John and Julia.
